Gordon “Gord” Van Vliet is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate and Business practice groups with over 20 years of experience helping public and private developers build and manage many large properties throughout Alberta and British Columbia. He provides strategic counsel on a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions and structures, including commercial and residential land development, sales and acquisitions, mergers, leasing and property management, co-ownership, partnerships, secured lending, construction and municipal planning.

While Gord enjoys maintaining a diverse mix of commercial real estate projects, he has built a strong reputation for helping clients develop innovative mixed-use condominium projects that require a skillful balance between the residential and commercial components. He collaborates with the client, a team of consultants and public agencies to drive these sophisticated projects to completion while also achieving an efficient and compliant separation of uses within the property.

In addition to his extensive commercial real estate practice, Gord also serves as a trusted advisor to companies on a variety of legal and business issues, such as high-level entity structuring strategies, risk management, dispute resolution, tax planning and counseling on day-to-day decisions that significantly impact their operations.
